At our home we strive to provide our children with the best education possible, and the Vocational Center is a key piece of our educational system. After graduating from primary school, all students begin their middle school studies at our on-site Vocational Center. Half of their day is spent on traditional classroom subjects, and the other half is spent in one of our seven vocational workshops: carpentry, electricity, shoemaking, sewing, beauty, and welding, as well as a life skills/home economics classroom.
In these workshops, students learn a trade in the form of a professional apprenticeship and at years end, each workshop culminates with a certification exam. The CADERH organization is a nonprofit with the goal of standardizing and elevating the skill level of workers in Honduras and they visit the home every November to administer the exams.
By successfully passing their exam, students earn a state-recognized trade certification an enormous advantage in the Honduran labor market. Especially for students who struggle academically, trade certification will be key to their success once they leave our home.
By supporting this project you will allow us to continue operating our vocational workshops that greatly influence our childrens job prospects once they leave our home.
